April 20, 2004 Mayor Susan R. Griffith opened the regularly scheduled meeting with a salute to the flag and moment of silence. She then stated, “In Accordance with Section 5 of the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975, notice of this meeting was posted on the bulletin board designed for that purpose and notice was mailed to the official newspapers provided by resolution adopted January 3, 2004”. Under Roll Call the following members of council were present: Councilwomen Haven, Houser and Sheilds and Councilmen Witzig and O’Toole. Borough Solicitor John B. Kearney was also present. Councilwoman Wyman was absent. Motion to approve the minutes from the April 6, 2004 meeting was made by Councilwoman Sheilds, seconded Councilwoman Houser. Councilman O’Toole abstained. All other members of council voted yes. Mayor Griffith read a proclamation designating June as Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month. Committee Reports: Councilwoman Haven reported that last Thursday she met with Tim Daly, Kevin Sheehan and Tom Ferrese to discuss overlapping issues between the Historic Commission and the Planning Board. Kevin Sheehan will work on a resolution to update our code. Councilman Witzig reported that he met with Councilwoman Wyman and Chief Shute to conduct interviews for the police department. They are accepting the application of Michael Scardino. They will also be receiving a second bid for the computers. Councilman O’Toole reported that the Finance Committee would be meeting with all department heads regarding their budgets. In regards to public works, Gary Geserick will get a quote for the street sweeper. Presently we do have a street sweeper. If anyone needs clean up they can call public works or the borough hall. Councilwoman Sheilds reported that baseball opening day was very nice. The skateboard park has broken ground. Under Old Business the Mayor announced that the Public Hearing and Final Adoption of Ordinance 2004-1170 was postponed until May 4, 2004 due to an advertisement error. New Business: Resolution 2004:65 – Resolution Requesting Modifications to the Notification Procedures and Requirements of Megan’s Law Motion to adopt Resolution 2004:65 was made by Councilwoman Sheilds, seconded by Councilman O’Toole. Under roll call all members of Council present voted yes. Resolution 2004:66 – Resolution Authorizing the Borough of Haddon Heights Tax Collector to Prepare and Mail Estimated Tax Bills in Accordance with NJSA 54:4-66.3 Motion to adopt Resolution 2004:66 was made by Councilwoman Sheilds, seconded by Councilwoman Houser. Under roll call all members of Council present voted yes. Resolution 2004:67 – Resolution Authorizing the Fire Department to Make a Purchase Utilizing a State Contract. (23 Pak-Alert Kits for the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus at the cost of $535 each, totaling $12,205. Grant funds have been appropriated for the purchase.) Motion to adopt Resolution 2004:67 was made by Councilman Witzig, seconded by Councilwoman Haven. Under roll call all members of Council present voted yes. Resolution 2004:68 – Resolution Authorizing Payment of Bills and Claims for 2nd Half of April. Motion to adopt Resolution 2004:68 was made by Councilwoman Sheilds, seconded by Councilwoman Houser. Under roll call all members of Council present voted yes. With no further business to come before Council Mayor Griffith called for comments from the public. There were no comments made from the public. With no further business to come before Council motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Witzig, seconded by Councilwoman Sheilds.
