Healey Funeral Home

The Healey Funeral Home has served the families of South Jersey and greater Philadelphia for four generations.  They do so with the same commitment that was established more than 100 years ago by John A. Healy, Sr., who opened their first funeral home in South Philadelphia in 1904 with the help of brother Joseph.

After working in the business, Joseph’s son, John A. Healey, II, established the Healey Funeral Home in Haddon Heights in 1946 by purchasing the John Wentzell home at 9 White Horse Pike and converted it into The John A. Healey Funeral Home. This location anchors the independently owned and operated business today.

John Healey, III and his wife Elizabeth raised their five children at the Haddon Heights Funeral Home and John served as a Camden County Freeholder for more than 20 years.  He gained a reputation as a man of integrity, honesty, and compassion, attributes he passed on to his sons and grandchildren.

Many families from Haddon Heights and surrounding communities who have been served by the Healeys have developed a relationship–often personal–with the family. Explains John Healey, III, “The families we serve have been very gracious and appreciative of what we do for them. Since dealing with loss is typically one of the worst experiences someone will have to endure, this is remarkable.” But not so if you know the Healey family.   It is easy to see how their compassionate care and attention to detail during the time of bereavement would be appreciated by those they serve.

In 1970 John A. Healey III, (Jay) opened a funeral home in Cherry Hill, where he raised his sons Timothy and John.   Tim says he was impressed with the town’s friendliness and sense of community when he and his family moved here to live. “It’s wonderful to continue the tradition of compassionate, dignified care to the Haddon Heights community established by my grandfather,” says Tim who manages both the Haddon Heights and Cherry Hill funeral home locations. Tim, his father, John A. Healey, III, and his brother John C. Healey are all licensed practitioners, working together at both locations.
