Mayor Beth Ann Haven opened the special meeting with a salute to the flag and moment of silence.
She then stated, In accordance with Section 5 of the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975, notice of this meeting was posted on the bulletin board designed for that purpose and notice was mailed to the official newspaper provided by Resolution adopted January 2, 2007.
Under Roll Call the following council members were present: Council President Trish Sheilds, Councilman Donald Witzig, Councilman Gordon Shopp and Councilman Lee Wentz. Borough Solicitor John B. Kearney was also present. Council members Barbara Cortese and Thomas Ottoson were absent.
Mayor Haven explained the reason for this special meeting was to adopt Resolution 2007:116, which would extend the due date for 3rd quarter taxes from August 10th to August 30th. She also said that the Tax Collector would continue to accept partial payments as usual.
During the public portion of the meeting twelve (12) residents came before council reiterating the same comments as in previous meetings. A few residents thought the Assessor should have been at this meeting to answer questions. One resident thanked the Mayor and council members as well as the assessor for their efforts.
New Business:
Resolution 2007:116 Resolution Extending the Grace Period for the August 1, 2007 Tax Payment to August 31, 2007. (Residents will incur no penalty if the 3rd quarter taxes are paid by August 31st).
Motion to adopt Resolution 2007:116 was made by Council President Sheilds, seconded by Councilman Witzig. Under roll call all members present voted yes.
With no further business to come before council, motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Shopp, seconded by Councilman Wentz. All members present were in favor.
