Heights Ranked One of the Best Towns to Live in Camden County
Among 37 municipalities in Camden County, Haddon Heights was ranked third by New Jersey Monthly Magazine’s Top Towns 2010! Many families have come to know Haddon Heights as a unique and charming small town, something that is increasingly rare in today’s home market. We have much to offer: a quaint business district, great schools, beautiful tree-lined streets, wonderful restaurants, parks and recreational fields.
The beauty of Haddon Heights is apparent as you walk or drive through it. There aren’t too many small towns like ours that offer such a broad range of home styles, from Historic Colonial, Queen Anne, Tudor, Arts & Crafts Bungalow, Mission, Italianate styles to Revival Colonial and Cape Cods. With such a broad range of home styles and prices, we have young couples purchasing their first home, established families looking for a family oriented community and seniors who have lived here their entire lives. Many families who discover Haddon Heights come here and stay, laying the groundwork for future generations. Our community offers much for families, young and older alike. In addition to a safe, clean and beautiful community, our Town will offer new services to families: a community center that will include a summer recreation program for our youth and many exciting programs for all age groups. Some residents have already enjoyed the use of the newly renovated Cabin for private parties, available at a reasonable hourly rate. Families will enjoy Haddon Heights more than ever.
Our residents take great pride in our Town and it shows!

The Census is Coming
It sure doesn’t seem like 10 years have gone by since some of us received a very long census form to complete! This year the census form will consist on only 10 questions and should take about 10 minutes to complete! They are being mailed out in March, 2010. It is important that you take the time to complete the form. The information gathered is used for many purposes, such as funding for transportation, home delivered meals, home health aides, respite care, protective services, adult care centers, mental and physical health services and the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. The federal government uses population data to allocate funds in a number of areas: Title 1 grants to educational agencies (school districts across the nation), Head Start Programs, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) food grants, public transportation, road rehabilitation and construction, programs for the elderly, emergency food and shelter, as well as empowerment zones. Census data can help potential homeowners research property values, median income and other demographic information about a particular community.
By law, the Census Bureau cannot share an individual’s answers with anyone including
federal, state and local agencies. Most importantly, over $300 billion in federal funds will be awarded to states and communities for new hospitals, schools, better transportation and social services.
The U.S. Constitution mandates a headcount every 10 years, of everyone residing in the United States. This includes people of all ages, races, ethnic groups, citizens and non-citizens. The first census was conducted in 1790 and has been carried out every 10 years since then. The Census Bureau must submit state population totals to the President of the United States by December 31, 2010.
You are an important person and we want you to be counted! Please take the time to complete the short form being mailed to your home in March. For further information, call the NJ State Data Center (609-984-2216) or go the official website (www.census.gov/2010census).
If you would like to earn some extra money, you can apply for a Census job! They offer good pay, temporary part-time jobs, flexible hours (up to 40 hours a week) and mileage reimbursement for field jobs. Call the toll-free jobs line at: 1-866-861-2010 to apply.
