Adult Fitness Programs

Tai Chi

Come experience the ancient art of Tai Chi. This rhythmic stretching patterns, gentle movement and coordinated breathing have been shown to improve balance, flexibility and muscle strength leading to increased well being, energy, endurance and agility. Come join our instructor, Morris Siegel, R.N., M.A. as he leads you through this journey.

Zumba

Move fast and have fun... ZUMBA is a Latin flavored dance/fitness program that combines musical rhythms with exciting moves to create a workout that is fun and easy to do. The hour long class will tone and sculpt your body while burning lots of calories. It is a fun and very effective class for everyone, both men and women. Come and join the party!!

Beginner’s Yoga

Learn the fundamentals of yoga with a renowned teacher. Mary has been teaching yoga for 12+ years and continues her education weekly by taking classes on her own and going to 4 retreats a year. This class is great for beginners and seniors. Any age, size and physical limitations. Safety and alignment are the key factors expressed during this class. Please bring your own mat and water. Be sure to wear comfortable, loose clothing. Chairs and the wall will be used during the classes for a varied practice each week.

Yoga

Through an eclectic mixture of physical posture, breath, sound, and concentration, you will cleanse, strengthen, stretch, relax, heal and re-energize. Yoga helps to increase strength and flexibility and improve posture and balance. Please bring a sticky mat and water. Wear loose comfortable clothing.

Pilates

Pilates is a system of mind-body exercise which dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. It will build strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body with slender thighs and a flat abdomen. It also teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement while improving flexibility, balance, agility, and economy of motions. Please bring a sticky mat and water. Wear loose comfortable clothing.

Pilates/Yoga Fusion

Pilates and Yoga have so much in common; it was only a matter of time to combine these two movements based classes into one exciting hour! Mat Pilates is a great way to strengthen the core muscles (abs) while working the spine, entire trunk and upper and lower body. The yoga portion of this class will enable the participant to go deeper into each movement, and how to use our natural breath to attain greater health, reduce stress and relax. This class is great for everyone, no matter your fitness level! Please bring a sticky mat and water. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing.

Fitness for Youth

Zumbatonic Demonstration

Kids can Zumba too! A specialty program which is designed to get children active by utilizing aerobic dance fitness. It utilizes such international rhythms such as salsa, meringue, cumbia, calypso and many more! Kids partaking will play games and learn dance moves that will help raise self-esteem, body awareness, coordination and flexibility as well as becoming exposed to healthy fitness habits. Please make sure your kids are dressed in comfortable clothing and bring water. Parents are welcome and encouraged to watch. The instructor will be available to answer any questions afterwards.

Self Improvement

Sugar Blues

If you've ever had the cravings for sweets, this workshop is for you. This class has been designed to permanently change your relationship with sugar. You will leave the class understanding the causes of your sugar cravings and you'll receive practical tools for dealing with them. Please join our lecture with Laurie Denton, Health Counselor. Laurie received her training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories -combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods.

Discover how to enhance your own natural beauty by way of proper skin care, simple make-up application techniques and the appropriate selection of nature based products. Barbara Strampello, image consultant, frequent guest lecturer, licensed aesthetician/make-up artist will demonstrate the tools and techniques to creating a “Flawless Face”.  Learn how to balance and camouflage imperfections, how to develop an improved skincare regimen by reading labels for proper ingredients, and overall, how to keep your skin healthy and youthful looking for personal enhancement. This course will include an anti-aging Fabulous Face Lift demonstration. Barbara was chosen to appear on Oprah Winfrey product search for her Fabulous anti-aging face lift system as well as QVC and was featured on the “The Big Idea” on CNBC.

Answer the questions you have about retirement planning for women. Why are women behind in planning for retirement? How much do I need to retire? What retirement plans are available and which plans are best suited for me? How do I select the most suitable investments for income or growth? What do I do with my employer retirement plans when I change jobs? How do I protect myself before and during retirement? How do I not outlive my assets? Christy Barilotti, CFP, has been teaching retirement planning for women for 10 years.

Marketing

This class will provide the concepts needed to create an on-going, turn-key marketing plan for small and medium-sized business. It will cover branding, common marketing tactics, strategy, and social media marketing. The instructor, Kathy Davidson is a graduate of Rutgers University- Camden School of Business with 15 years experience in marketing. Her career started in a small mom & pop consulting business with limited marketing resources and budget. Now she works as a Manager of the east region for technology services at RSM McGladrey, Inc.

  • Needle Works - Meets every Wednesday in August and September from 1:00 pm-4:00pm
  • Guest Speakers - Listen to a different guest speaker while enjoying coffee in September. Will be held every Thursday from 10:00am-12:00pm.
  • Men’s Morning Coffee & Donuts - At the Senior Center in August and September on Friday mornings from 9:00am-11:00am

Additional Information
Be sure to check back for upcoming classes and programs in the fall. Dates, time and fees to be determined. Currently working on:

  • Afterschool/Homework help: meet after school in our center with our staff and get help on any work you need to do. After our work is complete we will participate in structured activities.
  • ZumbAtonic for Kids: Dates of session TBD but be sure to come to the FREE Demo on Aug 10th.  (www.haddonhts.com/programs)        
  • Smooth Moves (seniors): Get a great cardio and strength training workout by utilizing a chair. 50 minute class with a warm up, chair strength training and an amazing cardio segment. All followed by a cool down and rest.
  • Line Dancing: Get some exercise with great music we all still love today from the Motown and R&B eras. We will have you up and dancing quickly by breaking down the steps for each dance, practicing with the music and reviewing the dances taught each week.
  • Marketing: Learn how to develop a marketing plan including goal planning, target marketing, branding, tactics and strategy. 6 week session.

  • Photographs will be taken at most programs. They will be posted on our website or used in Borough publications. You must notify us in writing if you prefer not to be photographed.

Haddon Heights Borough reserves the right to cancel any programs due to insufficient participation.  On the occasion that the Borough cancels a program, a full refund will be given in the form of a check. Please allow 2-3 weeks for refund.  We do not issue cash refunds.
