Haddon Heights...celebrating 102 years of community!

Mayor Beth Ann Haven called the special council meeting to order.

She then stated, “In accordance with Section 5 of the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975, notice of this meeting was posted on the bulletin board designed for that purpose and notice was mailed to the official newspaper provided by Resolution adopted January 2, 2007”.

Under Roll Call the following council members were present:  Council President Trish Sheilds, Councilmen Thomas Ottoson and Lee Wentz.  Solicitor John Kearney was also present.  Absent members were:  Councilwoman Barbara Cortese, Councilmen Witzig and Shopp.  A quorum was present.

Mayor Haven explained the reason for this special meeting, saying that a letter of resignation has been received from Police Chief Ronald Shute and his last day to work is Thursday, October 13th  and with the use of time due, he will be on the payroll until December 1st of this year.  She said there is a need for leadership during this period and someone who could follow through with the day to day operations of the Police Department.

New Business:

Resolution 2007:130 - Appointing An Acting Chief of Police (DSG Richard Kinkler).

Motion to adopt Resolution 2007:130 was made by Councilman Ottoson, seconded by Councilman Wentz.  All members present voted yes.

The Mayor called for comments from the public.  There were none at this time.

Motion to adjourn the special meeting was made by Council President Sheilds, seconded by Councilman Wentz.  All members present were in favor.
