Sarah Carmody is a multilingual speech-language pathologist with over 10 years of experience, during which she has been affiliated with pediatric medical centers in NYC and the Delaware Valley. She holds her M.S. in speech-language pathology (bilingual emphasis) from Columbia University and a B.A. in History and French from Boston College. Through her practice, Sarah offers private speech therapy services as well as specialty evaluations and consultations (multilingual assessment, motor speech analyysis) for school districts.
Sarah has experience serving a broad range of speech and communication needs and specializes in high-complexity assessment and treatment, particularly in the following areas:
- childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and other complex speech sound disorders (phonological, articulatory, motor speech)
- multilingual development, assessment, and intervention
- pediatric and adolescent voice disorders (vocal nodules, vocal cord dysfunction)
- literacy and pre-literacy challenges (phonological awareness, decoding, narrative language)
- social cognitive communication challenges (autism, early and advanced social communication, executive function)
Sarah provides relationship-driven intervention, which means her first commitment is to foster trust-based, positive language-learning experiences for you and your child. At Carmody Development Center, on-site services are provided with conservative distancing precautions. Sarah is also well-versed in providing tele-visits and is licensed to practice with clients residing in NJ, PA, DE, and NY.
