Our staff is already hard at work planning another fantastic season of the Summer Rec Program. We’re proud of this hometown tradition, which has been serving Haddon Heights for over 17 years! A key to the program’s enduring popularity has been the combination of consistent leadership and ever-evolving activities under Director Stacey Boegly Denning, who is already developing exciting plans for this year’s schedule.
Our Summer Rec Program is the perfect way for your child to build confidence, make friends, and try new things. The schedule runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 am. We run for 5 weeks, and you can select the weeks that work best for your family. In past years, we have sold out each week, so we encourage early registration to secure your preferred dates. Visiting grandchildren, cousins and friends are always welcome in our friendly program, and we’ve been able to accommodate many families from our waitlist in previous years.
Summer Rec offers a wonderful blend of “old school” fun and new skills. Activities are designed for children entering Kindergarten (must be 5 years old as of June 1, 2026) through those entering 6th grade. With plenty of variety, each week brings something different! We operate rain or shine using the air-conditioned Cabin at Hoff’s Playground and the Community Center off Seventh Ave.
Our primarily outdoor, rotating schedule includes free choice options, indoor snack time, craft sessions, and a variety of sports activities. For your peace of mind, we use secure check-in and checkout procedures, and every activity is well-staffed. Through open communication with parents, we’ve successfully accommodated a wide range of children over the years. If you have questions about whether this program is a good fit for your child, please contact Borough Hall at (856) 547-7164 ext. 36 or email jyuhaze [at] haddonhts.com (jyuhaze[at]haddonhts[dot]com).

Cadet Volunteers:
We will be continuing our tradition of inviting previous, repetitive attendees who have “aged-out” of the program to come back as Cadets for the 2026 season to earn service hours. There is no registration or application process. The directors will select children they know from previous years of Summer Rec, who they feel will not only assist and support the senior staff, but will also enjoy interacting and helping the children attending the program. If your child is selected you will receive a letter of invitation in May. Any questions should be directed to jyuhaze [at] haddonhts.com (jyuhaze[at]haddonhts[dot]com).
